have 'mercy'.........

kochi, the queen of the Arabian sea is very close to becoming a metro. it has malls coming up, infrastructural facilities on the rise, prospective projects and the developments are quite visible. but still kochi has not even come in the prospective list of becoming a metro.
and why is that?its because of the lack of night life, poor waste management and the atrocious condition of the roads. thanks to our mayor Ms. Mercy Williams. she seems to be determined to complete her term in office. this will power is very good for a person in power provided they fulfill their duties and responsibilities. what has our Mayor done?all she does is, when people come to attact her,she very smartly goes into hiding. if she could use this problem solving ability alone for the present waste management....
the waste is piling up everywhere. all the bins are removed. and the public is fined for dumping waste.then where do we dispose our waste?its such a pity!
today, the new indian express had posed a question, 'should the mayor quit?'through this blog of mine, let me extend my warm support for the brave intiative. i fully support you. THE MAYOR SHOULD QUIT. this would do good to our city. i am sure. show this mercy to us atleast.

education- a race!:(

when a child is born, his parents have a lot of expectations about who he should be tommorow. the years to come then becomes a race for them to fulfill their dreams. as the child grows older, he develops his own individuality and unravels his area of interest. he then tries to build a career in his field. sometimes parents agree to this and somethimes they dont. the result- unsatisfied children.
by Gods grace, i have parents who never enforce their choices on me. i was always given the choice to choose how my life should be. after much thought, i concluded that my field is something related to entrepreneurship. thats how i decieded to take an MBA.
but one cannot walk into a college just like that. you have to write the entrance exam. for that, you have to get the form. an all india entrance examination like MAT will have lakhs of students applying for it. and these very 'efficient managers' send thirty forms a day which is given on a first come first serve basis. and the whole of ernakulam has just one center- one branch of the bank of baroda office. and worse, just one form is given to one person!
if these organisers dont know the basics of managements, what right do they have to conduct a management exam?
education is and always will be a race for parents and children. but it would have been so much better if the system was more organised and user friendly!anyways, lets hope for a better tommorow. thats the least we can do!

inspiration from Helen Keller

10 days of onam holidays.
my teachers had given me loads and loads of assignment and tests to be conducted after onam.but just like any good college student,i never bothered to open any of my textbooks.
all i did was eat, sleep and watch tv.but after a point of time,i found this also boring.

that's when it suddenly dawned to me that i should improve my vocabulary.i analysed the various options like studying from the dictionary, reading the newspaper or reading a book.at last i came to the conclusion that the last option would be the most interesting and effective one.

i picked up Helen Keller's book 'the story of my life'.as you must be knowing,Helen Keller was blind, deaf and thus mute.she was born as a very normal child.but fate went against her when she caught an illness at the age of two.she was frustrated and depressed as she could not communicate.this went on for about three years.then as a ray of hope she got a teacher who trained her to be a civilized and normal human being.

Miss.Keller was eager to learn and to communicate.her teacher encouraged her to do everything a normal child would do.be it swimming, climbing a tree, walking in the garden all by herself or anything adventurous, Helen would be ready for it.and then she wrote books and became somebody whome we talk about 100 years hence.

i am thankful to God that he gave me all my senses which i take for granted.but reading the book made me think "am i using at least a portion of my talents?"i tried improving my vocabulary from a person who couldn't even see.what an irony!
Helen Keller could achieve it because she had the urge and the determination.it made me think "so why cant i?"
thank you Ms.Keller and hats off to you!!!!:)

street lights

everyday the news tells us dat we have to minimise the use of electricity as lack of rains brought severe electricity shortage.d govt also keeps increasing the slab rates dat an electricity bill gives us a heart attack!but lo!today in Edapally at 2.30pm when the sun was high up the street lights were also shining at me.kochi has street light in very few places and dey dont switch in on when its dark.and when dey do dey 4get to switch it off and blame the poor citizens for consumption of electricity.wat efficient bureaucracy!!!

mahabali's visit

onam is d main function of keralities.we celebrate it wit flower carpets, food in bananna leaves, onam songs bla bla bla...
d myth behind the festival is dat a king named mahabali once ruled kerala.he was so good dat all people were very happy.there was no corruption,no malice and no hatred dat the Gods saw it and they became envious.one day a God(vamanan) came down to Mahabali and said"I want to set my foot on three things and conquer it.
Mahabali thought about it and said"yes Lord, you can set foot on the earth and that place is yours".
vamanan expanded himself and set foot on all the earth and conquered it.
then mahabali said "you can set foot on the sky"
vamanan again grew in size and conquered the sky.
Vamanan:"Now where do I conquer?
the kind hearted Mahabali said "you can now set your foot on me Lord"
and thus he was pushed down to hell.but before he went he asked permission if he could vissit his people once a year.and it was granted.
and thus we celebrate onam when mahabali visits kerala again.
thats the story for all of you who dint know.
today dat is to say one week before onam i had the opportunity of seeing mahabali.but this one was not walking or climbing steps from hell.he was in a Chevrolet stuck up in a traffic block in kaloor!sitting majestically and waving at his people.
at this age where even a lower middle class family can afford a car with the coming of the nano,y shud poor mahabali alone walk with his old fashioned umbrella?
